The Heart of the Night
Your name falls
into the heart
of the night
like a raindrop dripping
from a flower,
a soft word
ringing through the silence,
a ticking wristwatch,
a bell announcing
the hour you
cut across my existence
like the mouth of a kiss
landing in surprise,
stealing all my breath.
